Mr. Sikhumbuzo Hlongwane

Holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree & BCOMM Hounours from University of Zululand. He is also in possession of a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Housing Development from Institute for Housing (IHS), Erasmus University, Netherlands and also a Master of Commerce Degree specializing in local economic development from UKZN. He is a seasoned local government practitioner within developmental local government and economic development fields. He has worked for Midlands Investment Initiative (MII) as Manager: Liaison, worked for the then Hibiscus Coast Municipality, as a LED Officer and also for Ugu District municipality as LED & Tourism Manager. He joined KwaDukuza Municipality on the 1st of March 2012.

About Economic Development & Planning:

  • The Economic Development & Planning Business Unit is responsible for the following municipal functions : Town Planning, Forward Planning, Transport Planning, Building Control, Outdoor Advertisement, Environmental Management & Climate Change, Local Economic Development, Tourism, Heritage & Museum, Investment Facilitation and Business Licensing.The Business Unit is responsible for creating an enabling environment for investors and aspirant entrepreneurs to thrive whilst contributing in creating sustainable jobs and inclusive economic growth.
