He has been with the municipality for 25 years. He holds a National Diploma in Town and Regional Planning, B Tech Degree in Town and Regional, National Diploma in Municipal Policing , National Certificate in Municipal Finance Management and is currently completing the Master of Town and Regional Planning Degree at the UKZN. He has served in various portfolios within the municipality starting of as a Town Planner and moving to the level of Director after 14 years of service. He served as Executive Director of Economic Development and Planning, and Municipal Services before being appointed as Executive Director Community Safety on the 1 July 2015. He also serves the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) as the Municipal Electoral Officer since 2005. He is a member of the South African Council for Planners and a member of the Institute of Municipal Public Safety South Africa.
